Classification of CHS Manuscripts

• • Main Study Manuscripts: A Main Study manuscript utilizes data collected under the main CHS contract. 

• • Ancillary Study Manuscripts: An Ancillary Study manuscript uses CHS main study data as part of a new externally funded grant, which may or may not also collect new, additional data.  Analyses are usually done by the group proposing the study, but may be done at the Coordinating Center if funds have been allocated for an analyst.
     
  • Substudy Manuscripts (rare): In contrast to a Main Study manuscript, a Substudy manuscript incorporates additional data collection that is funded by CHS. Substudies usually involve additional blood assays, or re-reads of scans, for example. A substudy is funded entirely by CHS and is headed by a single investigator or small group of investigators within CHS.
